Our Research

We combine ultrasonics and optics to develop technology for real time microscopy, imaging and tracking during surgical and interventional procedures. Here are our main current research topics.

Ultrasonic tracking of surgical and interventional devices

We develop methods for real-time tracking of surgical tools such as needles using integrated, miniature ultrasound technology based on fibre-optics and photoacoustics.

Miniature, multi-modal endomicroscopy

We develop next generation endoscopy technology for realtime photoacoustic and fluorescence microscopy, providing structural, molecular and functional tissue imaging at sub-cellular resolution.

Photoacoustic imaging for guidance of minimally-invasive surgical procedures

We are combining ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging, with ultrasound imaging providing tissue structural information and photoacoustic imaging identifying devices and critical tissue structures.
